Members of the Far North Local First Nations Voice recently travelled to the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands to talk with community.
Thank you to the Anangu people for welcoming the SA Voice and Secretariat staff to their lands on 8-12 September.
Far North Local First Nations Voice Members Melissa Thompson, Mark Campbell, Chris Dodd, Donald Fraser and Johnathon Lyons travelled across the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands to hear firsthand about the matters important to Anangu.
During their engagements in Pukatja, Umuwa, Amata, Fregon and Mimili, the Members spent hours talking with community to understand the issues that matter to them. Many of the ideas and opportunities discussed have already been raised with government through State Voice meetings. The Far North Members will continue to identify ways to bring other issues to light.
While in Amata, the SA Voice also met with members of Kulintja Kutju, an organisation made up of senior and emerging Anangu leaders who come together to review grants and funding applications for the Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) region. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss common goals and how to work together to get the best outcomes for Anangu people.
Thank you to the people of the APY Lands for engaging with the Voice through open, genuine conversations. Thanks also to the APY workers who assisted the Voice to run these events.
